If anyone were to ask what my favorite science fiction game series was that took place in outer space, I would answer “Mass Effect” without hesitation. This is not to discount other great space-related games such as the Halo series, Outer Wilds, Stellaris, Elite Dangerous, and No Man’s Sky. There are plenty of fantastic games made over the years that take place in the furthest reaches of the galaxy. But my heart is with Mass Effect as developer Bioware was able to craft nothing short of a masterpiece that I’m certain will stand the test of time in gaming. Even though I’m sticking with the original trilogy, I’m thrilled that the Legendary Edition is giving current gamers the chance to experience this fantastic saga that involves you stepping into the shoes of a male or female Commander Shepard as he or she seeks to save the galaxy from extinction. While that summary sounds very simple, once you play the games, you’ll realize there is much more to it than that. Continue Reading
After giving the early 90s WWF some attention two weeks ago, I decided to follow up with a create-a-wrestler showcase of early 90s WCW which had some legendary wrestlers and great matches, particularly in 1992. Once again using Fire Pro Wrestling World, this edition features Ron Simmons, Vader, Sting, Rick Rude, Stunning Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, The Steiners, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, and Nikita Koloff. It’s a wrestling Hall of Fame level showcase. I’m starting to like putting these videos together more than the wrestling game videos that I did in the past that just featured the gameplay of one match. These are more like shows. Let me know what you think. Continue Reading
PC game mods are a huge part of my gaming experience. Coming across new ones that I’ve never heard of before is one of my biggest delights in gaming. There are many PC games that I regularly play with mods such as Star Wars Battlefront II, NBA 2K14, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Fallout 4. Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge getting the mods up and working, but the thrill I feel once I am finally able to play them can not be duplicated. I am so grateful to the modding community and all the brilliant modders out there that add so much to PC games. It is a certainty that without mods, many of the games that I own would not have held my interest for as long. Continue Reading
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was such a landmark game. It was the first Call of Duty title that I played that got me invested in the series. I can still remember names like Soap MacTavish, Captain Price, and Nikolai. But it was when I played it on PC and saw all the mods available for it that I began to appreciate this game in a whole new way. What Black Monkeys has done by incorporating the Rebels vs The Empire into Call of Duty with the Star Wars Galactic Warfare Mod is what I believe is one of the greatest modding projects ever carried out. I’ve heard about it for years, as this is an older mod, but I did not finally play it until recently. And with the terrific PeZBOT. What an awesome mod! Continue Reading

I don’t think that I could ever state enough how thankful I am that we live in a time where video games can be legally acquired for free throughout each year. To say that I have taken advantage of this generosity would be an understatement. When I’m talking about “free” in this sense, I’m not referring to “free-to-play” games. What I am referring to are full games that are provided free of charge to whoever is willing to take the time to go through the process of claiming them. And if you enjoy free games, then December is the best month of the year in that regard. Last month, I added nearly 20 games to my library that would have easily cost me hundreds of dollars if I were to buy them at regular prices. It was a great haul and a tremendous Christmas gift from the different gaming platforms. Continue Reading
