Short answer: No. It was not due to a lack of effort. I made a huge push in November and December to get to one of the several endings in the Fire Emblem: Three Houses story. In a post I made back in April 2021, completing Fire Emblem: Three Houses was something that I was striving for. When my students were finally adults, I was very optimistic that my two-year journey with the game that involved more than 110 hours was finally going to conclude. I assumed that the second part of the game would be relatively short compared to the first and I would finish it within a couple of hours. Needless to say, I was wrong. Really wrong. Continue Reading
I’ve been a big fan of ZVitor’s fan games ever since I discovered them about two years ago. Some of the best entries include Marvel Infinity War, Justice League Legacy Definitive Edition, Dungeons & Dragons, and Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. If you are a fan of 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up games, then you will find all you’re looking for and more on ZVitor’s website. These games were all created using the OpenBOR engine. What’s even better is that these fan games are all free to download and play on PC and Android devices. ZVitor and Maru recently updated Marvel Infinity War to its 3.0 version that includes new characters, new moves, new remakes, and other additions to an already fantastic game. You can check out the game for yourself by clicking on the link below. Continue Reading
As if I don’t get enough free games already, a friend of mine late last year signed up for a free Amazon Prime trial for six months and offered to allow me to claim all of the free PC game giveaways. Needless to say, I was more than happy to oblige this friend. So since November, I have claimed nearly 20 free games through Prime Gaming. And I must say, the game selection for the last three months has been good. Some of the highlights have included Dragon Age Inquisition, Control Ultimate Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, Frostpunk, Journey to the Savage Planet, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Total War: Warhammer, Tales of Monkey Island, and World War Z: Aftermath. I had many of these games on other platforms already, but what a solid selection of games Amazon Prime has been giving away. Continue Reading
The teams for the upcoming Super Bowl are set. So I decided to play the big game using the Resurrected Mod in ESPN NFL 2K5 on the PCSX2 emulator. It was a great game and playing on the hardest difficulty certainly made the AI a formidable adversary. The Resurrected Mod team is still at work on updates and have recently released other downloads that greatly enhance the experience. These additions include the Uniform Selector using the JSGME mod selector software, as well as the ability to play the college football championship game between Alabama and Georgia in NFL 2K5. All of those links are listed below, along with tutorial videos that will help you get everything up and working. The ESPN NFL 2K5 Resurrected Mod works with you providing your own PS2 iso of ESPN NFL 2K5 and PS2 BIOS. Continue Reading
I had heard of Diablo II for decades and how the game was a trendsetter in the gaming industry. Many gamers heralded the action RPG as being the best thing to happen to PC gaming at the time. I read many accounts of people who were just binging on the game for countless hours at a time. Because I was not a PC gamer when the game was first released in 2000, I did not feel that Diablo II was something that I missed out on. I was mainly playing sports games, Japanese RPGs, and fighting games at the time. I was so into JRPGs at the time that as the gaming industry started moving more to western-style RPGs that contained more free-form combat and open-world type freedom, I strongly resisted it at first. In a silly way, I thought I was turning my back on games such as Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Star Ocean, etc. When I think about it, even if I did have access to play Diablo II, I likely would have shunned it at the time on that principle alone. I’m glad I’m not that type of gamer anymore. Continue Reading
