IN THE NEWS: Could Competition Revive Sports Gaming?

EA Sports and 2K Sports have been the two sports gaming juggernauts for nearly two decades.

Sports gaming has lacked real competition for a long time and it is believed by many sports gamers that the quality of games has suffered as a result. Sure, companies such as Electronic Arts and Take-Two Interactive (parent company of 2K) are making bigger profits on their top games such as Madden NFL and NBA 2K than ever before. Yet the criticisms have been more numerous and common in recent years as well. There’s also less sports game choices than there were 15 to 20 years ago. Today’s sports gaming landscape seems very stale compared to the past. It needs a spark and some healthy competition may be the answer. Continue Reading

Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children is a True Hidden Gem

I took a chance on Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children last year and I am glad I did.

If you were to ask the casual gamer if he/she has played Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children, chances are that person would stare at you blankly. It is a turn-based tactics game developed by a Korean company named Dandylion. If you put in a Google search for “Troubleshooter Abandoned Children Reviews,” you will find that virtually none of the major gaming publications gave this game any press. Yet among the gamers that have played it, the strategy role-playing title is beloved. After over a year of owning Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), I finally finished the campaign.

It certainly took me long enough. I’ve owned the modern Star Wars Battlefront II since 2019 and had never played through and finished the campaign because I was too busy focusing on the game’s other single-player modes with a hint of online co-op mixed in. That in itself made Battlefront II an amazing game from my point of view. But when I finally decided to play the campaign a month ago, that was the icing that topped what was an already well-made cake. Continue Reading

Content Creation Should Be Appreciated

‘Sean O Connor’ has created over 7800 videos on his wrestling game YouTube channel.

Before starting the TVGA YouTube Channel back in December, it had been quite a while since I had done anything video related. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting back in 2000 but my career path led me more into journalism than either radio or TV. So before last December, I had not edited a video in several years. Now, after about six months of regularly uploading content to YouTube, I’m quickly recalling just how much work goes into producing video content and it made me appreciate all of the content creators out there that put the time and effort into not only creating their channels but also sustaining them. It’s a lot of work! Continue Reading
