As we have now entered into the holiday season, I’m reminded of how this is the time of year that we all should be extra careful about how we go about our business. For some people, this is the worst and most desperate time of year. Couple that with the fact that many people are shopping either in-person or online for their loved ones and you have a recipe for all sorts of fraud, scams, and theft. Even though I know that you likely aware of this, I thought it would be good to at least put some friendly reminders out there from one gamer to another. Continue Reading

Today marks the date of the worldwide release of Immortals Fenyx Rising. Published by Ubisoft (one of my favorite publishers), this is a game from the developers of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that involves a lighthearted take on Greek mythology while drawing inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Recently, I’ve come to realize that, as gamers, we can spend so much time critiquing and criticizing games, systems, and products within the gaming industry that we lose sight of the things that we do like about it. I do believe that we all have a right to our opinions and perspectives, but I feel that we can forget all of the work, time, money, and sacrifices that are made for us to enjoy the products that we do. Everything that occurs in the gaming industry is the result of work that people have put their life forces into. And as a result, I want to use this platform as my way of saying, “Thank you.” Continue Reading

Open World Experiences Are What You Make of It

Depending on what you’re looking for, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be a game you find exciting or boring.

Open world video games can be difficult to review. The reason being that one of the key characteristics of the genre is giving the player the “keys to the car” so to speak to explore and engage in countless activities within vast game worlds. That means there isn’t a streamlined experience from player to player. Gamers who play open world games all seem to be expecting something different based on their personal preferences. So how do you really rate an open world game? Continue Reading
