Recognizing the Generosity of Gaming Companies

If you’ve never played the original The Witcher, GOG gave gamers the chance to do so for free in 2020.

In 2020, I posted about the enormous amount of money that is being made in the gaming industry. Video gaming is thriving and COVID-19 only served to prosper it further. I’ll admit that I’ll be the first to discuss the numbers that indicate just how much revenue organizations such as Electronic Arts, Epic Games, and CD Projekt Red are pulling in. But it would be inappropriate to neglect the fact that 2020 was also one of the most generous years in gaming history. Don’t be surprised if you notice that Call of Duty gameplay videos are being uploaded on a consistent basis for the YouTube channel. I am so thankful for all of the mod creators out there. For games like WWE 2K19 (PC), it is the modding community that continues to give this game extended life and relevance well beyond its typical one year cycle. The Hulk Hogan vs CM Punk match above a reality because of the work of matt2282p (Hogan) and AznBlusuazn (Punk). You can find their mods as well as many others at https://www.smacktalks.org. Another really good WWE 2K19 site is https://www.2kmodz.com.

When it comes to fan games of Marvel, DC, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat, nobody is better than ZVitor.

Free game engines such as M.U.G.E.N and Open Beats of Rage (OpenBOR) give gamers an opportunity to put together their dream fighting games. M.U.G.E.N allows for the creation of an old school arcade fighting game with just about any character one can imagine. Built on the foundation of Streets of Rage, OpenBOR gives game creators the platform to create their dream beat-em-up game. As of right now, my favorite such creator is ZVitor. Continue Reading
