Dynasty Warriors Formula Provides Big-Time Action

In February, I finally decided to explore what the Dynasty Warriors hype was all about with Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends.

I had long been curious about the Dynasty Warriors series. In the past, I never gave the games much thought because my interest was always in other games. My gaming past typically consisted of focusing on just a few genres that brought me consistent enjoyment. They were sports, RPGs, shooters, and fighters. Those four genres dominated my game choices and preferences until I started to expand my gaming horizons over the past few years. So while Dynasty Warriors may be old news to many gamers, it represents breaking new ground for me. And I’m having a grand ol’ time. Continue Reading

Dragon Valley is one of the most popular maps on Battlefield 2, my favorite first-person shooter. You can check out a double feature of shooter gameplay videos each and every Saturday on the TVGA YouTube channel. As always, there is much more content currently on the channel than what is shared here on the blog. Thanks for watching.

Could Outriders Be The Next Great RPG Shooter?

In Outriders, the main character will acquire some interesting abilities.

Outriders can truly be something special. I took the demo of the role-playing sci-fi shooter for a two-hour test drive this past weekend and I was left extremely impressed. This is no easy feat because I had started to become indifferent to the shooting game that takes place on a planet other than Earth. But Outriders, even in its unfinished state, is working with all of the right components to possibly be one of the major gaming hits of 2021. As long as the April 1 release isn’t a technical disaster and the rest of the game maintains the fantastic quality that it has showed from the onset, then this game will be a winner. I can see why gamers are putting so many hours into what was supposed to be just a 3-hour preview of the upcoming title. Continue Reading

Weekly News Wrap-Up: March 6th Edition

The Nintendo Wii U console was back in the news this week.

Welcome to March, everyone. We are drawing ever closer to the spring season and reaching the end of the first quarter of 2021. I’ve covered Valheim the past couple of weeks in the weekly wrap-up so I won’t include the game as one of the five news topics this week. But I do want to recognize that the game has now sold over five million units. It looks like 2021 has been taking shape over the past few weeks as many upcoming releases have been announced and business is still being done. Let’s get to it. Continue Reading

TVGA YouTube: The Best Destiny Alternative

Follow the TVGA YouTube Channel

When Destiny 2 developers, Bungie, decided that they were shelving content that I had paid for, I became disillusioned with the game and uninstalled. The shame of it all was that Destiny 2 had terrific gameplay that I enjoyed coming back to again and again. But I came across Warframe, which is an excellent free-to-play alternative that offers a load of content while being a delight to play. While it doesn’t have the smooth and polished feel of Destiny, it still plays great.
