IN THE NEWS: PlayStation Showcase Thoughts

Greetings everyone. I’m about a week and a few days late, but I did want to acknowledge the PlayStation Showcase that took place on September 9 and some of the big news that came out of that event. Overall, I felt that this was a very effective showing for PlayStation. The nearly 45-minute video that you can view above shows off some heavy-hitting titles that cover a decent range of genres. So regardless of the type of gamer that you are, there was likely something within the PlayStation Showcase that would have caught your attention. And if you’ve been on the fence like I have with moving on to a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, the PlayStation exclusives may factor in your decision. Continue Reading

Why Scarlet Nexus & Hitman 3 Lead the Pack for My GOTY

Scarlet Nexus and Hitman 3 are the two best games I’ve played in 2021 so far.

From the moment I saw it, I had a hunch that Scarlet Nexus was going to be a great game. The whole idea of battles using psycho-kinesis within an anime-like world with a cool story to boot sounded like a winner from the start. Scarlet Nexus was one of just two games that I pre-ordered this year, the other being Persona 5 Strikers. Yes, Persona 5 Strikers is not in the title, but it still was a solid title. Yet Scarlet Nexus was just on another level for me. It is a game I was very excited about before release and it exceeded the hype. If I had to pick a Game of the Year right now, Scarlet Nexus would be one of two top contenders. The other is Hitman 3, which I will get to a bit later in the post. Continue Reading

I’m appreciative of everyone who has taken the time to check out either platform. Continue Reading

IN THE NEWS: The Best Sports Mod Ever Created is Back

Young Michael Jordan soars over everyone in the NBA 2K14 Ultimate Base Roster Mod.

Yes! Yes! Yes! After a hiatus, the best sports mod in PC gaming is back as HAWK23 made his return online and re-uploaded his fantastic Ultimate Base Roster (UBR) mod for NBA 2K14. It was unfortunate that I had to point several people towards the Ultimate Roster Base (URB) mod by skodam for the past several months because of the unavailability of the UBR mod. This isn’t intended to be a knock against skodam’s work. It’s just that I have always preferred the UBR mod. Needless to say, HAWK23’s return was a pleasant surprise last month. Yeah, the news is a bit old by now but because I was away last month, I wasn’t able to post on it sooner. Continue Reading

Top Five Games I’d Take With Me to a Far Away Island

Credit: Square-Enix
Even though it came out in 1995, I haven’t played a better game than Chrono Trigger.

Okay, here’s the scenario. You are sent to a far away island and won’t be able to return home. But you are given the choice of five games that you can take with you to the island for any system, console, or platform. This also includes arcade games. Collections or a set of games included in one package are prohibited. So for example, no Batman Arkham Collection. Only single games apply. Which games would you choose above all else that you would be stuck with possibly for the rest of your life as a gamer? Continue Reading
