Online-Only Games Should Not Be Full Price

Battlefield 2042’s online-only option has prevented me from purchasing the game.

I get it. The online component of a game is many times its biggest moneymaker. Online play brings people from all across the globe together. This type of social interaction opens the door for some major spending by gamers through microtransactions. Online gaming is a winner for gaming companies. If you look at the top companies in the industry, what they all have in common are games and products that have significant online participation. In this post, it may come across as if I’m against online gaming, but I’m not. I’m not even against online-only games. But I do not believe that an online-only game should ever cost as much as a game that can be played offline. Continue Reading

IN THE NEWS: Another Botched Launch

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition was released this week with loads of bugs.

I love the gaming industry. Video gaming is one of my favorite hobbies and something that brings me tons of glee. What I feel is what I want other gamers to feel when they play their games. But there is a destructive habit in the gaming industry that came about when publishers gained the ability to patch games after launch. This isn’t something that all publishers are guilty of, but it seems as if some of gaming’s biggest publishers are relying on that fact as their excuse to release games in a terrible state. They reason that it can just be patched. Releasing highly anticipated games that are riddled with bugs and flaws has become normalized and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. The latest victim was the recent release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition two days ago.  Continue Reading

Happy Veteran’s Day to All of the Vets

As a United States citizen that has lived his whole life as a civilian, I will always respect the men and women that are willing to put on a uniform and become part of the military. They will experience life on a level that I will never be able to understand or comprehend. When they serve, they are putting their very lives on the line and accepting the possibility of not returning home. And some of those same men and women that return home will deal with a lifelong struggle of trying to adapt back to civilian life while having to cope with the trauma they suffered during their service to the country. Whether a person believes in war or not is irrelevant when it comes to the respect a veteran deserves and should receive. This also does not excuse the terrible atrocities that at times are committed in war. But a man or woman that puts on a uniform and serves a country to the point of being recognized as a veteran is more than worthy of my gratitude and appreciation. Continue Reading

Gaming in 2021 means that there are more games than ever before that you can play without having to spend any money. But some games will provide you hundreds of hours without costing a dime and that is what this post will showcase. IN THE NEWS: Netflix Enters the Gaming Market

Credit: Netflix
Known for years for its movie and TV show streaming service, Netflix is now officially in the gaming market with Netflix Games.

Gaming subscriptions are becoming more and more popular in the gaming industry. It seems like there is a market out there for people who are not concerned with owning their games. They are still gamers who still want to play video games even though ownership is not their priority. The constant purchasing of games does not appeal to them. So to subscribe to a service like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate that offers access to hundreds of games for $14.99 a month sounds like a far better deal than spending $59.99 to own a single game. I’ve always thought of these services as kind of a “Netflix of gaming.” But now Netflix itself is extending beyond just movies and television shows with the launch of Netflix Games. Continue Reading
